Obituary for Tim Lakes

Tim Lakes was born September 12, 1965 in Flemingsburg, KY and departed this life Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his residence, being 53 years of age. He was the son of Bobby Lakes of McKee and of the late Ida (Bingham) Lakes.
In addition to his father, Tim is also survived by his loving wife, Sandy (Hurst) Lakes; two children, Chelsey (Lakes) Cain and her husband Josh and Nick Lakes. He was blessed with a granddaughter, Presley Cain all of McKee. Other survivors include his sister, Renea (Lakes) Carey and her husband John of Berea; by his niece, Margaret Carey of Fort Mitchell, KY; by his father in law, Ronnie Hurst and by his mother in law, Opal Hurst of McKee.
Tim was an employee at P.R.T.C. and was a member of the War Fork Holiness Church.
Tim lived for his family. From the moment his feet hit the floor in the morning, everything he did each day was for his wife Sandy, who he loved so much, and his children, Nick and Chelsey, who he lived for. There was lots of laughter and love in the house Tim & Sandy built together. His desire was to always take care of San. They did everything together. He was a supportive father and was there for everything his children pursued. He was very proud of his family and reminded them often. He gave the best advice to his daughter Chelsey, and was the only person who could comfort her if she was sick. He was also very protective and reminded Chelsey to put her seatbelt on, drive slow, and watch for deer every single time she got in her car. He was wild over his granddaughter Presley, who he talked about all the time to anyone who would listen. He liked to remind everyone that ‘Poppy’ was Presley’s favorite person. He often mentioned that he had the best son in law he could ever ask for and welcomed Josh as his own. He loved to eat and enjoyed his mother-in-law Opal’s cooking every Sunday afternoon with the entire family. He attended Warfork Holiness Church where he could always be found backing his father-in-law’s ministry. He had an unwavering faith in his savior, Jesus Christ. Opal and Ronnie were second parents to Tim and he was like their own. He enjoyed his visits to his sister Renea’s barber shop, where she always cut his hair just to his liking. He had a strong work ethic that he inherited from his Dad Bobby and his Mom Ida, and was very rarely caught sitting down. He was proud of and enjoyed his job as engineer supervisor at PRTC. He spent a lot of time outdoors. He loved to hunt with his son Nick and his Dad, Bobby. One of his favorite places to be was the Lakes home place on Horse Lick. He and Nick spent a lot of time together whether it was outdoors or sports, and had their own special jokes between the two of them. He was known for his smile, his laughter, his jokes, his hilarious impressions, his story telling, and his way of making everyone around him feel at ease. He never saw a stranger and Tim was Tim no matter where he went or who he talked to. He was the rock of his family and his passing has left a strong and noticeable silence. He was an exceptional husband, father, father-in-law, son, son-in-law, brother and uncle. He was the center of a family who was together all the time. When you saw one of them, you saw them all. With his life lessons, stories, and the life he lived, the legacy he leaves behind is a respectable and honorable one that will continue through his children and grandchildren for generations. His reunion with his Mom, Ida has no doubt been a celebration. He left without anyone having to wonder where he is and that is the most precious gift he has given us.
