Obituary for Helen Lou Davenport Lawson

Helen Lou Davenport Lawson was born August 19, 1932 in Jackson County and departed this life Thursday, September 15, 2017 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care in Lexington, being 85 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Stanley & Ethel (Johnson) Kerby.
Helen is survived three sons, Ernest Davenport and his wife Nancy, Steven Davenport and his wife Lisa and Kenneth Davenport and his wife Mary Ellen. She is also survived by a brother, Tommy Kerby and sister, Lydia (Glenn) Barton. Helen was blessed with eight grandchildren, Ernie (Darlene) Davenport, Scott Davenport, Ashley (Mike) Smith, Jason Davenport, Josh Davenport, Justin (Lina) Davenport, Matthew (Heather) Davenport and Amanda (Robert) Slone; by a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her first husband, Tip Davenport; by granddaughter, Shannon Strunk; by her siblings, Amos, John, Floyd, Vernon, Homer & Rosie Kerby, Faye Greene, & Christian Vaughn.
Helen was a member of the Sand Gap Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. She also loved quilting and kittens.

Service 2:00PM Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Carpenter and Bro. Gerald Maupin officiating. Burial to follow in the Combs Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Kerby, Matthew, Justin, Josh, Jason & Ernie Davenport Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne & Jesse Kerby.
